Grand Park’s Historic 10TH Anniversary Continues with West Coast’s Largest Free New Year’s Eve Dance and Music Party Featuring Live Music Performances on Two Stages Plus Signature 3D Midnight Countdown Lightshow Projected onto L.A.’s Iconic City Hall
LOS ANGELES (December 1, 2022)— Grand Park today announced the in-person return of Grand Park’s NYELA after a two-year absence, with Grammy®-nominated Cuban Funk artist Cimafunk and renowned DJ Marques Wyatt topping off the highly-anticipated New Year’s Eve celebration. Powered by The Music Center’s Grand Park team, the West Coast’s largest free New Year’s Eve event will also continue Grand Park’s historic 10th anniversary celebrations when the park’s signature 3D countdown lightshow projected onto L.A.’s iconic City Hall leads revelers into 2023.
“Throughout 2022, Grand Park brought back live events for the whole family because Angelenos were ready to fall in love with L.A. all over again, and Grand Park’s NYELA will be the icing on the cake,” said Rachel S. Moore, president and CEO of The Music Center. “With an incredible roster of global DJs and homegrown music performers, this wonderful only-in-L.A. celebration invites all of us to embrace the new year with hope, community and just plain fun!”
“Grand Park was conceived 10 years ago as a dynamic and authentic space committed to showcasing L.A.-based musicians, DJs and talent that reflect our community’s global sounds. Expect an unforgettable experience at Grand Park’s NYELA—another joyous occasion to commemorate the park’s historic 10th anniversary—as we look forward to making more wonderful memories together in L.A.’s park for everyone,” added Grand Park Director Julia Diamond. “On behalf of the entire Grand Park team, I want to thank the artists, community partners and all Angelenos who celebrated the milestone anniversary throughout the year and invite everyone to join us for an amazing send off to 2022!”
With gates opening at 8:00 p.m., the ultimate New Year’s Eve celebration will encompass the six city blocks that comprise Grand Park. Global Bass DJ Gingee sets the groove for the nearly five-hour celebration at the Get Down Stage, located in the park’s Block 2 between Grand Avenue and Olive Court with host DJ Banga Brownin, followed by Bhangra/Afrobeat DJ MTooray, Cumbia Latin DJ collective Cumbiatón and world-renowned Marques Wyatt spinning Deep House beats. “I love Cali and I can’t wait to celebrate 2022 and welcome 2023 with the great people of Los Angeles,” said Cimafunk. “It’s going to get really FUNKY at midnight, so put on your dancing shoes and get ready to feel the GROOVE.”
