The Blue Ribbon Children's Festival
March 12-14, 2025, at The Music Center’s Dorothy Chandler Pavilion
Sponsored by The Blue Ribbon, a support organization of The Music Center, the free Blue Ribbon Children's Festival began in 1970 and is an important part of The Music Center’s commitment to engage young people in the arts. Designed specifically for fifth-grade students, the Blue Ribbon Children's Festival is one of California’s longest ongoing free arts education programs and a huge favorite among L.A.’s students and teachers.
Each year, fifth grade students are invited to The Music Center to experience the performing arts by a professional dance company. Afterward, they get the chance to perform themselves. A targeted curriculum guide with standards-based lesson plans is also included.

Parsons Dance
The 2025 Blue Ribbon Children's Festival will feature Parsons Dance. As one of the world’s premier contemporary dance companies, Parsons Dance showcases a dynamic fusion of styles that combine athleticism, grace and unparalleled innovation. This New York City-based company was founded in 1985 by Artistic Director David Parsons and Tony Award-winning lighting designer Howell Binkley. Through endless creativity and self-expression, striking choreography and powerful music, Parsons Dance creates unforgettable performances that push the boundaries of dance and bring life-affirming artistry to audiences across the globe.

The Blue Ribbon Children's Festival Book
Thanks to a generous gift from Blue Ribbon member Maxine Dunitz, each participating student receives a copy of My Journey Through The Music Center, a book that introduces the four theatres of The Music Center and the performing arts presented in each venue. The book also includes profiles of performers and behind-the-scenes staff, as well as vocabulary and Fun Facts.
The Blue Ribbon
The Blue Ribbon is The Music Center’s premier women’s support organization and one of its largest donors. The Blue Ribbon has enriched the lives of the greater Los Angeles community through its commitment to arts education, volunteerism and financial support for The Music Center and its resident companies.

TMC Arts programs connect people, offering us the chance to get creative and to learn as we discover something new or enjoy something familiar. Many programs are free and low-cost; they take place outdoors on Jerry Moss Plaza at The Music Center and in Grand Park, inside The Music Center's theatres and in schools and neighborhoods all across L.A. County.
