Los Angeles Baroque Orchestra Artsource Unit
Brandenburg Concertos No. 3 and No. 4
Composed by Johann Sebastian Bach
Greg Maldonado and the Los Angeles Baroque Orchestra look to the past to make old music fresh and new for audiences of today. They strive to recapture the sound that was in the composer's head when the music was created and to play it on the instruments of that time. Bach's six Brandenburg Concertos are amongst the most popular works from the Baroque era. This beautiful, yet complex, music captured and inspired the style and attitudes of that time. Lessons feature a project where the letters of one's name are designed in a Baroque artistic style, the history of ballet beginning with the court of King Louis XIV and identifying musical themes and instruments in a music listening experience. Enduring Values is the universal theme threaded throughout.
