Born into a multicultural family, Chisa simultaneously celebrates her passion for tradition and innovation. Originally from the San Francisco Bay Area, Chisa graduated from UCLA with two bachelor's degrees; one in Asian American Studies and one in World Arts and Cultures. Following graduation, she joined DIAVOLO | Architecture in Motion® as a touring dancer for ten seasons. In addition to dancing with the company, Chisa was the Tour Engagement Education Director for six years and the DIAVOLO Institute Co-Director for two seasons. She also originated the position of Marketing Director. A certified yoga instructor, she specializing in Vinyasa flow, pre and post-natal yoga, Chair Yoga, Yoga Tune Up Ball Therapy, and is a certified Reiki Master.
With extensive training in arts education curriculum development, Chisa has myriad teaching credits that include: national and international teaching residencies; and numerous, custom-designed lecture series’ given around the world. She was also adjunct dance faculty at California State University, Los Angeles for two terms and is a proud member of the APAP Leadership Fellows Cohort II. Chisa is also a regular associate speaker/lecturer with Athletes and the Arts, an organization advocating for equitable healthcare and visibility for creatives and artists. Her current endeavors in the performing arts are as a producer, agent, and manager with Sozo Artists, Inc, a creative agency founded and led by women of color. Rooted in the belief that the arts play an essential role as catalysts for innovation, it builds artistic and cultural bridges to invoke a vibrant, trusting and compassionate society.
