The Music Center / Performing Arts Center of Los Angeles County (“The Music Center,” “our,” “us,” or “we”) provides this Privacy Policy to describe the personal information we collect about you when you interact with The Music Center online, including through our website at (www.musicenter.org) (the “Site”) or offline.

Please review this Privacy Policy to better understand our data practices as they apply to personal information. By visiting The Music Center or accessing the Site, you consent to the data practices described in this Privacy Policy and also consent to our Terms and Conditions. If you do not agree to this Privacy Policy, or any of the terms in the Terms and Conditions, do not continue to access this site or visit The Music Center.

Please note that this Privacy Policy does not encompass the privacy practices of our Resident Companies (e.g., Center Theater Group, Los Angeles Philharmonic, Los Angeles Opera, Los Angeles Master Chorale), companies that operate restaurants on our properties, or other entities that may use The Music Center properties from time to time (collectively, “Visiting Companies”). To learn more about those’ entities privacy practices, please visit their websites. We are not responsible for their privacy practices. 

Personal Information We Collect – Sources and Categories

We collect personal information when you visit our Site, purchase tickets, create an account with us, register for our events and programming, make donations, register to receive our e-news or blog, inquire about our properties and the programs and services we offer, rent our properties, use our catering services, utilize our accessibility and guest services offerings, inquire about volunteering with us, or when you otherwise voluntarily provide information to us. We do not receive personal information from any of the Visiting Companies, other than information of employees or other representatives when acting on behalf of Visiting Companies in connection with those companies’ use of The Music Center properties.

The categories of personal information we may collect include the following: 

  • Personal identifiers: Name, address, email address, telephone numbers, IP address or other unique identifier, account name and password, and other similar information.
  • Financial information: Bank account information and other information related to your donations or ticket purchases.
  • Protected class information: Military or veteran status.
  • Commercial information:  Records of products purchased or considered.
  • Internet or other electronic activity information: Device and browser type, your browsing and search history on our Site, and information regarding your interaction with our Site and our advertisements.
  • Professional information: Name of employer (if an educational institution)
  • Audio and visual information:  Recordings of customer service calls, video of you captured on CCTV security cameras.
  • Inferences drawn from any of the Personal Information identified above.

Use of Personal Information We Collect

We use the personal information process your requests and orders, provide you with information about our events and services, provide educational information, keep you apprised of events at our properties, solicit donations from you, process of subscriptions and memberships, communicate with you, provide you with other services, offers, and updates, as well as to administer our web site and comply with applicable laws.

We may communicate with you about topics we believe you may be interested in, including supporting The Music Center, groups that you have joined, special offers, updates, through periodic newsletters, or in connection with surveys and contests that we may offer.

One of the services we use is Google Analytics, which helps us  evaluate the use of our Site. Do Not Track

Because an industry-standard Do-Not-Track protocol is not yet established, we do not observe Do Not Track signals.

Disclosures of Personal Information

We may disclose your personal information to service providers when they help us to collect, store, or process your personal information, such as in connection with processing a payment. We may also disclose your personal information to the Resident Companies of the Music Center for marketing purposes.

We may also disclose your personal information as required or permitted by law to comply with a subpoena or similar legal process or government request, or when we believe in good faith that disclosure is legally required or otherwise necessary to protect our rights and property or the rights, property or safety of others, including to law enforcement agencies, and judicial and regulatory authorities. We may also disclose your personal information with third parties to help detect and protect against fraud or data security vulnerabilities.

We may transfer your personal information to a third party in the event of a sale, merger, reorganization of our entity or other restructuring or share such information as part of the due diligence process in connection with such transactions.

We will undertake reasonable efforts to respond to valid requests you may make to update, change or delete personal information the Music Center maintains about you. To make any such requests, please refer to the How to Exercise Your Choices section below. 

Unsubscribing From E-Newsletters and Marketing Emails

If you subscribe to our e-newsletter or receive marketing emails from us, you may direct us to stop sending them to you.  To do so, click “unsubscribe” when receiving such emails or contact us one of the ways in the How to Exercise Your Choices section below. You can use the same contact information to tell us you do not want us to use your personally identifiable information to contact you for marketing or solicitation purposes.

You can revoke these options at any time by contacting us using one of the methods provided.

This Site contains links to other websites provided by third parties, including the Resident Companies that perform at our properties, entities that operate restaurant and dining facilities on our properties, and social media companies that have buttons on our Site. Please be aware that we do not control these third party websites or any of the content contained on those websites. Once you have left our Site, we cannot be responsible for the privacy practices of such other websites. We encourage you to exercise caution and to read the privacy policy for the websites you visit. The inclusion of hyperlinks to third party websites on our site in no way constitutes an endorsement by us of such websites’ content, actions or policies. 

Access Outside the United States

Personal information collected from users outside the United States, including via our Site, will be transferred to the United States where the Site is hosted. You hereby consent to the transfer of your personal information to the United States as described in this Privacy Policy. Please do not use the Site if you do not agree to the transfer and processing of your personal information in the United States, which may not provide the same level of protection for your data as your home country. 

Minors’ Personal Information

Our Site is not directed to children under the age of 13.. We do not knowingly collect any personal information from children under 13. 

Your California Privacy Rights

California’s “Shine The Light” law permits California residents to annually request and obtain information free of charge about what personal information is disclosed to third parties for direct marketing purposes in the preceding calendar year. Security

We take precautions to protect information collected about visitors to the Music Center and our Site. We protect the information entrusted to us through physical, technical and administrative safeguards. However, no information security safeguards can be guaranteed to be completely secure, so you should use caution whenever providing personal information online, electronically or otherwise. 

Changes to our Privacy Policy

From time to time, we may modify this Privacy Policy in our sole discretion.  If we make any updates or changes to this Privacy Policy, we will change the date of the last update.  We will notify you of material changes to this Privacy Policy by indicating on our Website that the Privacy Policy has been updated.  Visiting The Music Center, or using our site, after updates are posted and effective constitutes acceptance of any changes.
